How to Check for Updates

Updates are posted several times a year. For Apple and Windows versions purchased from acastat.com, use the "Check for Updates" module in the Help menu to download AcaStat, Clarity, and StatCalc program updates and patches. We recommend you use this feature periodically to ensure you have the most recent version. See AcaStat update 10.1.16 for information regarding a bug when trying to download a Mac update. Help with updates.

If you purchased software through the Mac App Store, you will be automatically notified of updates when available.

AcaStat 10.4.4
Release Date: 8/6/19

This update contains new features, stability improvements, and bug fixes.

New Features:
  • Improved print formatting for Explore output.
  • Explore print procedure was adjusted to automatically set the printing format to landscape if the number of List Variables is greater than 7.
  • Explore Crosstab print procedure has a popup message noting printing will be limited to 12 columns.
  • Improved Crosstab and Explore Means option settings so the manual settings are not automatically reset when running multiple procedures.

Bug Fixes:
  • Corrected Explore tab print errors.
  • Fixed an intermittent error when double-clicking an AcaStat data file and added an error message if the file path is not found.
  • Fixed an intermittent failure to clear prior contents in the Output screen.

AcaStat 10.4.2

New Features
  • A subset of the recently released GSS2018 survey was added to the example data menu.
  • An import SPSS Data Dictionary module was added to the Data menu. The import module allows users with access to SPSS (e.g., computer lab) to use SPSS to create data dictionary text and data tab delimited files for import into AcaStat to create an AcaStat file with data and variable formatting.
  • Right-click copy and paste is now available in the Data Information module. The module also includes a print option.
  • Added an option in the data import module to import data that does not contain variable (column) labels in the first row.
  • Added feature that retains the existing statistic or chart procedure when loading or pasting new data.
  • Added *.tsv and *.dat to the data grid file drop options.

Bug Fixes
  • Improved reliability in pasting data without clearing existing data spreadsheet contents.
  • Corrected an error that occurred when opening a new data file while the charts module was enabled.
  • Fixed failure of drag and drop from Apple Numbers.

AcaStat 10.4.1

New Features
  • Adds a new module that creates summary tables with row and column variables. This new feature is designed primarily for categorical survey response data.
  • An option box is displayed in the SumStat module that allows users to delete spreadsheet data while retaining the stored history.

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed an error in SumStats that occurred when attempting to run a calculation with incomplete data entry.
  • Improved the stability of pasting data from various spreadsheet formats.

StatCalc 9.1.6

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed intermittent failure of the Epi Risk and Decision Tools modules to properly display a data screen when an option is not selected.
  • Changed calculations for skewness and kurtosis in the Descriptives procedure to better match those produced in other statistical software.

  • Improved error handling in SumStats when attempting to run a calculation with incomplete data entry.

Bug Fix
  • Corrected an error in the calculation of the median for odd numbered numerical lists. The error primarily affected very small data sets with no repeat values at the median.

New Features
  • Added the capability to display a historical record for each SumStat statistical procedure. Controls in the Status Bar allow moving through up to ten prior calculations to view changes in confidence intervals, significance tests, and other SumStat procedures without going to the Output Log.
  • This version includes a module for saving, copying, and printing the SumStat confidence interval and significance test bar charts.

Stability Improvements
  • Improved copying and pasting data from the newest version of Microsoft Excel.

New Features
  • Added statistical significance and confidence interval bar graphs to the SumStat tab.
  • Added Decision Tools to the SumStat tab. Adds procedures to calculate constant dollars, queuing (waiting lines), price elasticity of demand, and decision tables.
  • Added a statistics guide to the Help module. The guide presents annotated output of most of the statistical procedures available in AcaStat.
  • Added option to print output in landscape mode or to adjust the size for tables exceeding portrait page width.
  • Added label for t-tests to indicate how to load the list boxes (Group A-B).
  • Added a print option button for the Data Dictionary module.
  • The random sampling procedure has been changed so all missing cases are removed before instead of after randomization. This will ensure that all samples have the same number of cases.

  • The information text box for the Trend Forecast chart option module truncated the text display.

AcaStat 10.2.4

This update contains new features, stability improvements, and bug fixes.

Bugs:

  • Output header did not align the page number with the right margin.
  • Corrected failure to properly label chart titles when selecting a new chart type.

New Features:
  • Added a forecast line chart that includes weighted averages and exponential smoothing. An options window allows edits to weights and exponents used in the forecast models. Example data is provided via the Data Examples pull-down menu. The procedure saves a summary data table in the Output log.
  • Added warning regarding proportion margin of error and z-tests to ensure data entry uses proportions instead of percentages (i.e.; system requires values < .99 for proportion margin of error and for z-test population and sample values).
  • SumStat output for proportion margin of error includes a conversion from proportions to percentages.
  • To improve readability the data labels for line charts default to black instead of the line color.

AcaStat 10.2.3

  • The initial view has been changed to display the Options panel instead of the Explore panel so new users can view all analysis features when opening AcaStat.
  • The Frequencies procedure has been improved to display the horizontal bar chart when the Options panel is visible. Only the last variable is shown in the bar chart. The output for all variables in the Analysis listbox is stored in the Output Log.
  • Descriptives now displays the variable name instead of variable label in the Explore tab.
Bug Fixes:
  • Mac users only: corrects failure to download updates. This bug does not affect purchases through Apple App Store. Licensed users can request a special update link by contacting support@acastat.com.
  • Explore correlation procedure saved explore listbox contents that resulted in hiding full numerical display (e.g. 1,000 was saved as 1).

10/1/16AcaStat 10.1.7

This update contains stability improvements and bug fixes.

New Features:
  • A Strings Recode option has been added to the Recode module to simplify recoding and combining strings into meaningful values. The Strings option creates a new variable that recodes and combines string values into 1 to 12 numerical categories. The recode procedure also adds value labels to the data file for improve reporting.
  • The Find and Replace recode option has been improved to allow more refined identification and replacement of values or strings that are embedded in cell contents. Prior versions required that the entire cell content had to match the search criteria.
  • The Documents menu includes a link to download a free version of the Applied Statistics Handbook in pdf or iBook format.
Other:
  • The Recode menu was improved to show more procedure specific instructions upon display of the selected recode operation.
  • The Duplicate option in the Compute recode tab has been changed so it will duplicate string or numerical variables.
  • Fixed error where the Pareto Sort chart failed to display the variable label for string variables.

New Features:
  • Improved the display and analysis of international decimal indicators.
  • Example data with decimal values are automatically converted to match the locale decimal indicator (comma or period).
  • Updated average CPI (U.S.) for 2015 and added the semi-annual CPI for 2016.
Other:
  • Updated Statistics Glossary
  • Improved drag and drop functionality for data files, so data manager appears after loading of data.
  • Changed Decision table payoff values from left aligned to right aligned and removed the addition of one too many columns when formatting the table.
