Part III provides
techniques
for using a sample (a subset of a population) to describe a population.
Hypothesis testing basics present the essential features involved in
conducting statistical tests. A common approach for interval/ratio
level data is the difference of
means hypothesis test. For nominal data, the difference of proportions
test
is often used when comparing two groups. Chi-square is a common test
when
comparing two or more groups with nominal or ordinal level data. The
section
on correlation introduces measures of association between two
interval/ratio level measures and the use of bivariate regression to
make predictions. The
section on sample size estimation presents two examples of power
analysis.
