Proportions

A proportion weights the frequency of occurrence against the total possible. It is often reported as a percentage.

Example

Frequency: 154 out of 233 adults support a sales tax increase

Proportion: occurrence/total or 154/233 = .66

Percent: .66 * 100 = 66% of adults support sales tax increase
